Imagine having a portable karaoke and get a singing party started anytime! In the house, campsite, vacation home or in a party venue. As long as you have cellular data and access to the internet, it’s easy to setup your own portable karaoke party. No need for any bulky speaker or a TV.
Items you would need for a Portable Karaoke Setup
There are 3 main items that we need to have any karaoke setup – 1) a mic set, 2) TV or monitor and 3) speakers. And for some these can be complicated to setup. For your portable setup, you would need only 2 items:
1 Mobile Phone or Tablet
These days almost anyone has a smartphone or a tablet. As long as you have access to youtube.com, you are good to go!

2. Wireless Karaoke Microphone
After portable bluetooth speakers, this is probably the most important invention for all karaoke lovers out there. Most wireless karaoke microphones can function as both wireless microphones and portable speakers. This combines a microphone with a speaker. The sound quality maybe a bit compromised but convenience and portability are its main features. This is the device to get to be able to take karaoke anywhere you go. Get the singing party started anytime, anywhere!
How to set up your Portable Karaoke on the Go
Most wireless karaoke microphones have 2 ways of connecting to your mobile devices such as a smartphone or a tablet.
1 Bluetooth Connection
Just like a typical handsfree or portable speaker, connect your mobile device to the wireless karaoke mic through bluetooth pairing.
2 Wired Connection
Additionally, wired connection can be available depending on the device you get. The Bonaok wireless karaoke microphone for example, has an option to connect using an AUX cable (check if this is included in your device).
Once you are done with connecting the wireless karaoke mic to your mobile device then you are all set! Just go to youtube.com and begin searching for songs and sing your heart away!

Can I use the microphone for singing while my Apple Music is on the tv and I’m using a Bluetooth speaker connected to the tv with wifi .
Hi Michael. I haven’t tried it but it seems that it should work. If your TV has bluetooth and can connect to the speaker, try it and please let us know how it goes. Hope it works!
I just got my bonaok q88 i have it paired but i can’t here my voice when i sing karaoke
you all need a sound mixer but if you can set the output of your mic on your built in speakers then please teach me on how you do that thank you\
Just got the Q37 microphone. How do we connect it to a bluetooth speaker? Not through a phone? Just want to be able to be heard over a crowd.
Hi David, the Q37 itself is a bluetooth speaker, it is meant to be used as a microphone and speaker in one. Its bluetooth function is meant to be used to connect a phone or similar device to output the music to the Q37’s speaker.
Bluetooth Mode instructions from the site: 1. Turn on microphone, a blue light will come on and a sound will indicate that bluetooth function is ready for use. 2. Search bluetooth ID Q37 on mobile phone/ tablet/ pc and connect. 3. Open any Karaoke APP or select music file from your device music player, and adjust your device accordingly.
Do you have a blue tooth mic product that can pair directly with the Bose sound link wireless speaker?
Hi Gary, I haven’t found a microphone with bluetooth out yet. Is your intent to use Bose soundlink mini for karaoke? I don’t advise doing this as the speaker is not intended to take in audio from a microphone. But if you insist, you can use the AUX input of the Bose soundlink mini to connect a microphone. You can try using a mixer or a microphone that connects directly to the AUX Input such as this Hotec microphone and use its included 3.5mm adapter. Also a bluetooth speaker can only take in 1 input at a time so if you are already pairing it to play music from a device, even if you find a mic that can have bluetooth out, it can not play from 2 bluetooth sources at a time. Hope this helps.
I just got a Bonaok Q37 Wireless Microphone & HIFI Speaker and I can get it to pair and work as a speaker, but not as a microphone. We ordered it for an event where someone will be singing karaoke. Any ideas as to what I”m doing wrong?
Hi Polly, as long as the volume and echo are turned out, the microphone should be working. The microphone function is built-in and can only be heard on its own speaker. Please try adjusting the volume and echo levels. If it’s not working, I am afraid it might be defective, please return it or exchange. Hope it works out!
can it be hooked into a boom box for better sound? I am a pastor and the Bonaok Q37 Wireless Microphone & HIFI Speaker is not putting out sound so it can be heard as I speak.
Hi Walter, unfortunately this device is designed to use its built-in speakers. The Bluetooth connectivity is for mobile devices to be used as input audio for music to be outputted in the Mic’s built-in speakers. If I may suggest, the karaoke setup for home can work also for your needs. Kindly refer to this article on how to setup karaoke at home. Hope that helps!
Just got the BONAOK Magic Sound & FM Wireless Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone 5-in-1 Portable Speaker – plugged it in and red light turns on for a second then turns off. Cannot pair it or turn on. Any advice? Or do you think I was given a faulty product? No user manual came with it either.
It’s either it needs to be charged or it might be a faulty product 🙁 Sorry to hear that you are having problems with it.
I just got a Maono portable karaoke speaker, model #AU-CO4 for my birthday, the manual that came with it isn’t very well written. I’m trying to figure out how I can pair my iPhone 6 to it, do you have any step by step directions you can give, I would really appreciate it!!!
Hi Jessica, I assume this is the same model as this Maono portable karaoke speaker. Saw it in Amazon. I have not used it before and I haven’t seen an online manual that I can try to read. However, based on experience on some similar devices, normally you would just: 1. Click on the MODE button until you select BLUETOOTH. 2) Using your Phone’s General settings -> Bluetooth, search for the name of the speaker you would want to pair. That should do it! If you can send me an online copy of the manual, I can try checking it for you. Goodluck and belated happy birthday!!!
I just received my Q37 but it would not connect to the wi fi
Hi Charles, from what I know it does not connect to WIFI. It connects through bluetooth. Here are the instructions I found in its product page.
Bluetooth Mode(sing with bluetooth microphone) 1.
Do you have any experience with a singtrix unit. I ordered one and will output to my Pa powered speaker. Can I add a Bluetooth 4 mic. Mixer to it. Any other suggestion to make it better?
Hi Anton, I am assuming that you got the personal bundle singtrix. This does not have bluetooth but it has 2 microphone inputs.
With the portable mic + speaker, it does not have any output settings that will allow you to use it with the singtrix.
What you can add is a wireless microphone set such as this Fifine UHF wireless mic. Hope this helps.
We used this during our last team building. There was a sound system readily accessible so we connected the Mic through aux port.
Thanks for sharing Emman! I’m sure you all had fun.
