The iPhone Upgrade Test – To get or not to get the new iPhone version?

Last updated on January 10, 2018 By TechLifeGeek 2 Comments

It’s that time of year again to ask ourselves – Do I get the new iPhone version?
Almost every year, we get tempted and ask ourselves this same question whenever a new iPhone version is announced and released.

Today is special not only because Apple is releasing the iPhone 8 or iPhone X (not sure what it is going to be called at the time of writing this) but also because this is the iPhone version that will be marking the 10th year anniversary of its birth. The first iPhone was announced and released by Steve Jobs in June 29, 2007. And the world has never been the same since then.

The Simple iPhone upgrade Test

Take this simple test to help you quickly decide whether you should get the latest iPhone model.

Simply check which statement applies to you:

  1. You can afford it in cash
  2. You want the latest technology it brings – face recognition, wireless charging, bigger screen
  3. Your phone is too old to keep up with you and your lifestyle (too slow, no more memory, some features no longer working, or it’s just dead)

If at least 2 statements apply to you, then YES, the new iPhone version maybe for you. Let’s check your answers!

First Adopter1 and 2 – You are the first adopter!

Even if you have the previous iPhone version, barely a year old, as long as you can afford it then go ahead, and add this latest toy to your growing collection of gadgets.

Deserving One

1 and 3 – You are the deserving one!

You reached the end of life of your phone. You work hard, you definitely deserve a new iPhone! Reward yourself today.

The worker2 and 3 – You are the worker!

You need to work and tweak your budget. A common dilemma for us consumers is WANT vs NEED, in your case, you meet both – you WANT it and you NEED it but unfortunately, your wallet is not cooperative.  Since you are in need of a new phone, why not the iPhone? It’s time to check mobile plans that will work for your budget or check out the older versions of the iPhone or refurbished models. It’s not that bad either.

Perfect Combination1, 2 and 3 – You are the perfect combination!

The stars have aligned for you, just when you needed a new phone, the latest iPhone has just been recently released.  Time to go the store.

So which one are you? To get or not to get the new iPhone version? Share using the comments section below!

Great test for seeing if we should upgrade our iPhones. The iPhone X was a bit disappointing to me. I’m thinking about making a big change over to the Amazon fire phone. Ironically enough, I answered yes to all three questions. So, I might go for it. This is a great test for upgrading almost any phone or device.
